March 27, 2026 — Today, freedivingbase goes live as a free, community-driven directory that helps freedivers plan their next training trip. The platform is growing rapidly, with new destinations and schools added every day, and lets divers compare courses and prices side by side.
Why freedivingbase exists
freedivingbase was born out of a personal need. The founder is an avid freediver who kept running into the same problem: finding great schools and destinations meant piecing together clues from Instagram posts, Google Maps reviews, and scattered forum threads. There was no single place to compare what actually matters for a training trip.
Driven by a love for the freediving community, he built the tool he wished existed. freedivingbase brings depth access, water conditions, course offerings, price ranges, and school details into one directory so freedivers can spend less time researching and more time in the water.
What the platform offers
- ● Destination profiles covering water temperature, visibility, depth access, season info, and local logistics for spots from Dahab to the Bay of Islands.
- ● School directory with course types, certifications offered, pricing signals, and direct links so divers can book with confidence.
- ● Comparison tools that let users filter by budget, certification body, region, and training style.
- ● Learning hub with guides on certifications, course types, and what to expect from training.
Growing the sport together
freedivingbase is more than a directory. The mission is to help develop the sport and raise its notoriety by making the entire ecosystem more visible. When schools are easier to find, they attract more students. When destinations get proper coverage, more freedivers discover them. Everyone benefits.
School owners can claim their listings, keep their information accurate, and get discovered by divers who are actively planning their next trip. Enhanced profiles and partnership opportunities are on the way, giving schools more ways to stand out and connect with students directly.
The platform is built to serve the whole community: athletes, instructors, school owners, and recreational divers alike. The team is actively listening and welcomes feedback from anyone in the freediving world on what would make the platform more useful. Reach out at hello@freedivingbase.com.
What's next
The team is expanding destination coverage, adding deeper school profiles, and building tools that make trip comparison even easier. The roadmap is shaped by the community, so freedivers and school owners are invited to share what they need most.
